Design and evaluation of ECO: an augmentative and alternative communication tool

Current technology provides new challenges to improve skills on people with special necessities. In fact, persons communications needs can take advantage of devices and mobile applications interact communicate easily in the most straightforward way. Augmentative alternative communication (AAC) systems are oriented users who cannot use natural language due temporary or permanent impairments, providing an for communication. this paper, we present design guidelines easy application (ECO), AAC tool designed a user-centered approach make functional easier individuals complex needs. ECO has two well-defined modules: Communication User Manager. The former is thought as tool, while Manager module way edit content fit dynamics user’s interests. addition, evaluation from different perspectives. On one hand, have achieved heuristic-based expert order analyze functionality corresponding check main accessibility requirements accordingly. other evaluated both manager user modules real context, carrying out qualitative final their therapists whether useful concrete daily scenarios. Results corroborate research questions, demonstrating that meets important it highly valued by experts end-users.
